We decided to entertain our audience with the history of DankWeed.com.

Once upon a time DankWeed.com rested upon a mighty domain registrar called BasicFusion (a registrar owned by a large company called "Navigation Catalyst Systems" who apparently got sued for $100M by Verizon).

BasicFusion is a private registrar. Their policies require a minimum portfolio of 5,000 domain names to qualify as your registrar.

The original owner either failed to pay their renewal fee, didn't want anything to do with pot, or had a billing contact that was smoking. They basically threw a $50,000 .com out the window.

The current owner debated the purchase for 48 hours. The decision to purchase it for a mere $8.90 at NameCheap.com was a no-brainer.

Let this be proof that anyone who says "All the good dot com's are already taken" is mistaken. Today DankWeed.com triumphs in all it's glory, in the wake of Proposition 19.
